About Us
We’re Nicole Croft and Danielle Gillard, two sisters on a mission to create books that resonate with young children and families. Together, we bring over two decades of experience in early childhood education, community building, and creative expression. Our passion for storytelling began in our childhood, with both of us always finding joy in books, art, and imagination. Today, we’re proud to share those stories with you through our unique blend of writing and illustration.
Our books focus on the emotions, experiences, and challenges that children and families face every day. We believe in creating stories that not only entertain but also offer opportunities for reflection, empathy, and growth. Our First Book: There Are Some Things Love Can’t Buy
Our debut children’s book, There Are Some Things Love Can’t Buy, explores the idea that love is much more than material possessions. It’s a story that touches on the importance of family, kindness, and community, reminding us all that the best things in life don’t come with a price tag.
The book also celebrates diversity and the many ways people can come together to support one another. From food banks to libraries and thrift stores, our story highlights how communities play a vital role in lifting families up when they need it most.
What makes There Are Some Things Love Can’t Buy truly special is the Educator’s Resource section at the end of the book, designed to inspire meaningful conversations with young readers. Whether you’re a teacher, daycare provider, or parent, this resource can help guide discussions on empathy, caring, and understanding the world around us.
Meet the Creators
Nicole Croft – Author
Nicole brings her background in early childhood education and sociology to her writing, infusing every story with themes of compassion, resilience, and learning. After spending many years working with children and running her own childcare business, Nicole has developed a deep understanding of the social and emotional challenges young children face. Her writing aims to help families navigate these important topics in a way that’s accessible and fun for little ones.
Danielle Gillard – Illustrator
Danielle’s lifelong love for art shines through in every illustration she creates. As a mother, sister, and aunt, Danielle’s art has always been a part of her family life, from sketching to dabbling in face painting and even crochet. Now, with There Are Some Things Love Can’t Buy, she’s turned her talents toward children’s books, bringing Nicole’s words to life with vibrant, heartfelt illustrations.
What’s Next?
We’re just getting started! Along with promoting There Are Some Things Love Can’t Buy, we’re also working on new projects, including our next book, Big Feelings, which will explore the complex emotions that children experience in everyday life. We can’t wait to share more details with you soon!
We’re excited to offer virtual classroom visits this year with limited availability! During these 45-minute sessions, you can expect a book reading, a bit of background on the inspiration behind the story, and a short discussion with the children. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to connect and engage directly with young readers.
Additionally, we’ll be making appearances at select bookstores for book signings and readings over the fall and winter. Keep an eye out for more details on dates and locations, as we’d love to meet you in person!
